Elegant square kiriwood hibachi (handwarmer) with hand-woven bamboo and mulberry wood burl on top and lined with copper from Kyoto, Japan. Hibachi was originally used to warm hands in cold rooms because there was no central heating in Japan. Perfect for orchids, wastepaper basket, or for wood storage, Taisho period, circa 1920s. Small repaired crack as shown in close up photo.
