Japanese Sakiori Blanket

by Tansu Design

Rare hand woven sakiori textile ( woven from old clothing, much like a hand made rag rug). Originally used in northern Japan as a cover for a wooden kotatsu ( hand warmer) to keep warm during the winter. The back side is made from patches of men’s kimono. It can be hung as textile art or as a throw on a bed or couch
